Summary of Contents
The content of this book includes: shamanic ways and divine songs, the content of shamanic divine songs, the rhythm of shamanic divine songs, etc.
After several years of hard work, this book The subject finally came to an end. Whether this full stop is perfect can only be left to experts and readers to comment. Completing a subject doesn’t seem too difficult to me. But it took me most of my time to collect, collate and conduct field research on a large amount of Manchu materials, especially those shamanic songs written in Chinese and full of voices, which are like heavenly scriptures. It took a lot of trouble, but fortunately, it was finally translated. Due to the long time, inaccurate transcription, and my limited ability, some translations of divine songs are not very accurate. Another point that needs to be explained is that, for the sake of convenience, the Manchu script used in this book is in the internationally accepted Roman transliteration form. Through the research of this topic, I have a certain understanding of Manchu shaman culture, and have a deeper understanding of the status of divine songs in Manchu shaman culture. It is gratifying that the by-products of this project, such as “Chinese Shamanism”, “Investigation of Manchu Shaman Cultural Remains” (co-authored), “Oral History of Manchu Shamans Surnamed Stone in East Kazakhstan, Jilin Jiutai” (co-authored), etc. Complete, forthcoming. Finally, I would like to thank Mr. Lang Ying and Mr. Song Heping, research fellows of the Institute of Ethnic Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Mr. Fu Yuguang, a researcher of the Jilin Provincial Institute of Ethnic Studies, for their guidance and help in the selection of topics, demonstrations, and provision of reference materials.
