About the author

Lu Zhiji was born in Shanghai in 1949. In 1981, he received a master’s degree from the Chinese Department of Fudan University in Shanghai. In 1991, he received his Ph.D. from the Department of Linguistics, University of Illinois, USA.

The published linguistic works include “Introduction to Computational Linguistics”, “Computational Linguistics”, “Quantitative Research on Chinese Dialects”, “A Quantitative Model in Dialect Subgrouping: The Case of Modern Wu Dialects”, etc. , and published more than 20 linguistic papers in Chinese and foreign academic journals such as “Chinese Social Sciences” and “Studies in the Linguistic Sciences”.
