Hang Xinzhai (1869-1924), named Shenxiu, another character Yiwei, was born in Chang’an Town, Haining. In the 15th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1889), he ranked first in the county examination and was a doctoral student. In the following year, he entered the Beijing Guozijian. Later, he was admitted to Tongwenguan, abandoned the imperial examination, and studied new learning. In the thirty-first year of the Republic of China, he joined the Tongmenghui, and on the eve of the Revolution of 1911, he joined the Restoration Association. In 1917, he went south to Guangzhou, attended the extraordinary meeting of the Congress, and was elected as the chairman of the punishment committee. He went to Shanghai in 1921 and was appointed by Sun Yat-sen as Minister of Propaganda. In addition to participating in politics, Hang Xinzhai had a deep research on “Book of Changes”. He is the author of Yi Xue Series, Hang’s Seven Kinds of Yi Xue, etc.

Hang Xinzhai once organized the “Book of Changes” academic research society, the Mingyanji Society. The “Yan Ji Xue Society” is likely to be the forerunner of the Zhouyi Association and Zhouyi Research Society since the Republic of China, and its pioneering work will benefit the future. Hang Xinzhai once served as the lecturer of “Book of Changes” in the academy, wrote the lecture notes of “Book of Changes”, and “Yi Wedge” in six volumes. In addition, he also wrote “The First Collection of Xueyi Bitan”, “Second Collection of Xueyi Bitan”, “Yi Shu Ou De”, “Du Yi Miscellaneous Knowledge”, “Yu Yi Lu Yi Shuo Ding”, “Shen’s Correction of Achillea”, these works are combined It is called “Seven Kinds of Hang’s Yixue”, which was published by Yanji Society in the eighth year of the Republic of China, and then published by Kyushu Publishing House. In addition, Tianjin Ancient Books Publishing House photocopied “Xueyi Bitan” and “Duyi Miscellaneous Knowledge”, which were published by Tianjin Ancient Books Publishing House.
