The study of palmistry was a key point in my early numerology research. Looking back today, I have achieved a lot of academic achievements in palmistry research, and I have really gained insight into the fundamentals and principles of palmistry. In the past three years, the focus of my academic research has been mainly placed on the two areas of Da Liu Ren and Bazi Numerology. But during this period, my research on physiognomy (including palmistry) has never been interrupted, and I have been paying attention to the progress of related researches at home and abroad. From Dong Zhongyi, Chen Dinglong, Gao Fei, Wang Dayou in the mid-1990s to today’s Sheng Shusheng, I have also read the physiognomy works of a large number of “famous” people. The works of physiognomy of these people (mainly focusing on palmistry) are indeed wonderful and superb from the perspective of techniques, but in terms of principles of palmistry, these works lack strict organization principles and corresponding academic scales , and cannot really enter the scope of everyone who studies physiognomy. The most important thing in the study of palmistry is what kind of path to explore. Nowadays, many palmistry books teach people to read by rote: that is, list certain schemas, and then explain certain meanings below, but do not explain clearly the basis for inferring meanings from the schemas. This common saying abounds, leaving enormous room for academic cheating. The real study of physiognomy is definitely not read from the script. Any symbol in palmistry must have a theoretical basis and a technical conclusion, and it must not be pieced together with heresy and specious things. For example, to look at the human pattern, one must first determine the main definitions contained in the human pattern, and then discuss the imagery of various transformations. Knowing both why and why, opposing rote memorization of palmistry charts is a major feature of my palmistry research.
